I’m a bootleg collector since 1998, and I stopped in 2009.
I started with live mp3 on the old Efnet #metallica’s^garage room, if someone of you can still remember it
I then stopped at around 850 audio shows, for starting collecting the most interesting stuff, live shows on DVDs!
Yes, video is indeed better than audio
A few years ago I finally stopped to collect video stuff too, at around 650 live shows.
During my trading career I was able to shoot and release some personal bootlegs, so I became not just a trader but a taper too.
This helps out a lot to understand how difficult is to film a show by yourself, and appreciate more the work done by the other tapers back in the years.
I always loved cams, and after my first one (JVC MG70) bought back in 2006, I finally bought a new Canon HFS21 (killing cam!) just last year, in 2010
With this Canon HD I filmed one of the last Gotthard (Swiss Rock band) shows in Lugano in 2010.
A few seconds of this video has been published on the bonus DVD of the official
Gotthard’s 2011 release “Homegrown, Alive in Lugano”, dedicated to Steve Lee’s death.
Right now I’m only helping/working on single project for special shows on Metpage.org
Trading is indeed a good hobby that helped me out to meet and know a lot of new friends worldwide, with who I still share the same big passion!
to be continued…
